The Wroxeter Hotel in Shropshire is a lovely Georgian Country House with unique modern twists, and I think it’s one of the stand-out wedding venues in the Midlands.
As a Midlands wedding photographer, I was lucky enough to capture a special wedding here between Gabrielle and Mark. Having this personal experience means I can vouch for the grand elegance of this location.

About The Wroxeter Hotel
The Wroxeter Hotel in Shropshire is nestled amidst the picturesque countryside and is a hidden gem as a wedding venue. As you approach the winding country lanes leading to this retreat, a sense of tranquility envelops you and you know this is going to be a great place for a very special day.
Wroxeter itself is the largest Roman city in central and northern Britain. It’s one of the most important archaeological sites in the UK with links to King Arthur, Shakespeare, and many other historical figures for such a small quaint Shropshire Village.
The Wroxeter Hotel venue has several function rooms and gorgeous countryside views, making it a perfect place for taking amazing wedding photos that capture a truly special day. I was lucky enough to be part of a wedding at the hotel here, so we were both inside and outside, and I must say, it was such a beautiful day.
Amenities At The Wroxeter Hotel
Not only does The Wroxeter offer its Georgian Country House, the tipi weddings at Woodlands at Wroxeter, it also offers farm weddings at its fun-sounding Barn & Festival site. It’s clear that all manner of weddings are well catered for here.
As the wedding photographer for the day, I saw the grounds and the hotel were just perfect. Couples can get married surrounded by the trees, in a cosy and quaint ceremony site which holds three huge tipis. But don’t fear the British weather, the tipis are dry, warm, spacious, and designed for all seasons. Or you can get married in the beautiful elegance of the Wroxeter Hotel itself. There are so many choices available to you here, I can't see you having nothing but the truly bespoke day you desire.
They are licensed to hold civil ceremonies inside or out for a range of 15-200 guests. As a former chef, I know the food here is high quality, they offer a bespoke menu, so all dietary requirements and palettes are catered for here too.
Wroxeter Hotel Wedding Packages
The Wroxeter Hotel offers no less than 10 different wedding packages! These fall in line with the seasons and offer numerous options and extras, making it a venue that is great value for money.
From their ‘small and intimate’ wedding package costing from as little as £2,475, to their ‘Summer Venus’ wedding package from £6,775 – £10,075, it’s clear there is a wedding here to suit every budget.
A Wroxeter Hotel Wedding with Gabrielle and Mark
Mark first messaged me on Instagram through a recommendation from a fellow photographer. Once we were introduced Mark passed me on to Gabrielle who explained that they wanted a few hours of coverage capturing some candid moments of their big day.
When their special day arrived, I was greeted by Gabrielle at the hotel who was in full bridal prep. I saw the beautiful suite they were staying in and I worked through all of the details with the stunning light flooding into the room. These pictures gave me the idea of a filmic style photo as Gabrielle gazed out of the window (being careful not to show the groom in the process).
Mark welcomed me not long afterward and we instantly connected through a similarity in career, both being from the chef back ground. The wedding was a beautiful outdoor ceremony and the weather held out for sure. Upon gathering the couple for their newlywed couples shoot, Mark let slip that one of the groomsmen had ‘grown a bit’ since their suit fitting a year prior, meaning they had to cut the back of his waistcoat in order for it to fit properly (see pic above haha). This definitely made for a wicked photo opportunity, it’s these little fun moments that makes the story of their big day so unique. With the ceremony and all the formalities taken care of it was time to party, I just know that they celebrated the correct way at this special wedding venue.
Final Thoughts on a Wroxeter Hotel Wedding
As you can see I was a huge fan of photographing at the Wroxter Hotel and it was easy to see that Gabby and Mark had the wedding of their dreams. As the sun set over the Shropshire hills, casting a golden glow over the landscape, I felt very fortunate to be part of such a special day at such a great venue. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway, a peaceful retreat, or a memorable event venue, this haven promises an unforgettable experience that will linger in your heart long after you leave.
